Why Minimalist Furniture

Students usually do not live in a big house with lots of space. Therefore, it is very important to decorate their spaces with functional furniture. Minimalist designs are in trend as well. Simple yet aesthetic, very suitable for the modern day students.

Shopper shares a coffee table hack by using the most basic things you can get from Kmart. Cheap, multifunctional and space saving!

Instead of spending hundreds to buy a coffee table, a creative Australian Shopper revealed her DIY coffee table hacks. By using affordable buys from Kmart she handcrafted her own coffee table. Not only affordable but also very functional.

The smart shopper revealed her simple ‘hack’ on Facebook. Amy bought the $15 Large Round Acacia Wooden Serving Tray to place onto the $29 Extra Large Woven Round Basket.

the basket &
the tray

First she turned the basket upside down and slid the tray on top, and the two pieces fit ‘perfectly together’ without any glue. A minimalist design is all about space saving and functionality. Together it’s a coffee table and apart it is a basket for your books, a laundry basket, a tray and anything you can think of using it for.

The end result matched the wooden floorboards and Amy said she was ‘pretty happy’ with the overall look.

The Outcome

Lovely isn’t it? Not only does it look really good, but if you decide that you don’t need a coffee table anymore you can still use it separately as a tray and a basket. Other than that, this DIY minimalist coffee table is very functional and you don’t have to waste any extra space.

Multifunction DIY coffee table

You can get these goods from any supermarket or any online store around you. Or if you have any basket lying around at your friend’s house that they aren’t using you can also use it to make your own multifunction minimalist coffee table.

Lastly, if you guys have any smart DIY minimalist hacks that are suitable for students overseas, share your idea with us so we can share it with our students abroad.
