Student Visa and Health Insurance
International students who plan to study in an academic program longer than 90 days in Germany need a National Visa (Type D) for study purposes. After arriving in Germany, students must convert the visa into a student residence permit at the local Foreigners’ Office (Ausländerbehörde). Students must also have an adequate financial plan and health insurance.
Part-Time Work Rights
You are permitted to take a part-time job with the condition that you only work 20 hours per week or 140 full days (or 280 half days) per calendar year, or 40 hours per week during semester break.
Accomodation
Other than on-campus residence, international students can also rent accommodation off-campus. The price range for off-campus housing depends on facilities, the specific unit rented, and distance, averaging around €670 - €889 per month.
